Hand-e-Work is a well developed, mature and stable mobile repairs system launched in 2004 by the Wrekin Housing Trust. The product carries a unique badge “designed by the sector for the sector”. As Hand-e-Work product expert Lawrence Gardner puts it “if our system was not 100% reliable and stable then we would feel the pain immediately within our own business, which means that we have a very tangible incentive to deliver the highest standards of quality within our software”. Ease of learning and usability is key to the success of the system. “We started from a clean sheet of paper”, says developer Neil Woolley, “we formed a consultation group of trades operatives, crossing all ability ranges; between them they drove the design of the system’s screens and human interface, ensuring that it is as easy to use as possible for a wide range of skill levels”. The system is completely independent of any particular vendors back-office system, and has been designed for resilience and reliability. The companion Hand-e-Biz product, developed in close consultation with national builders merchant Travis Perkins, provides for a fully electronic (paperless) trading relationship with your supply chain partner and the fully automated management of operative van stocks. The Hand-e-Work team are uniquely positioned - “Successful implementations are a combination of good software and good advice”, concludes Lawrence Gardner, “we have high levels of expertise and experience in this area, all obtained first hand, and so are positioned better the most to guide our customers towards success”
